- 1. Be simple enough for anyone to start – with little or no training or previous experience.

PROVIDING A “SERVICE” TO OTHERS….
Despite the hundreds of ways you might think of that people can earn extra money from their own homes, there are really just two ways to do it after all: By providing either a PRODUCT, or a SERVICE. Every legitimate home-based micro-enterprise falls within one of these two categories (and some actually combine the two).
Product-oriented ideas include everything from creating crafts items or furniture or publications (like this one), to selling cosmetics or cookware for MLM companies like Avon, Mary Kay or Tupperware. Items can be sold either to retail stores or to wholesale distributors, or by mail order, party plans, and even door to door. The list of sales venues is nearly endless.
This guide does NOT deal with product-oriented businesses.
Even on the smallest scale (such as craft items) – it costs real money to buy supplies, equipment and so on. It also takes a good deal of time to start selling your products (setting up accounts with retail shops, finding distributors, etc.). So going into this form of business is not useful for the present discussion.
(NB: I have the FULL details of “how to start a product sales business” in another manual I’ll be offering in the near future. Due to the nature and complexity of the details, it won’t be nearly as inexpensive as this manual.)
Service-oriented ideas, however, ARE the focus of this low-cost guide.
As a general rule, most service-oriented businesses cost far less to start and run than product-oriented businesses (you have far less materials and supplies to purchase). However, some require specialized training and/or a license to be legal; and expenses such as insurance, sales materials, etc.. Many, if not all also take a good deal of time and effort to get up and running profitably.
Even so, there are certain types of services to individuals and businesses in your area which can be started by anyone who wants to, with almost zero investment – and these can give you an IMMEDIATE cash income. Note I said “immediate cash income” – these services are structured so you are paid on the spot at the completion of each job.
No billing, no waiting… and you are…
Paid in cash – Today.
Furthermore, these services are usually NOT currently being offered in a community (or if they are, there is more demand than people to fill it). Thus, the field is wide open – and people are eager to pay YOU to provide a service for them.
These are the ideas that I wish to share with you in this guide. I will tell you exactly what each service is; how to do it, what you need in the way of supplies and/or equipment, how to find and approach customers, a proven “sales script” to use, what you need to charge for your work, how much approximate time each job will take you, and how much work you will need to find each day to earn a minimum of $100… in cash.

- 2. Are not physically demanding or exhausting

If you want to adapt this plan to some other type of service business (see the additional ideas and FREE bonus sections of the manual), keep these points in mind. The ONLY time you would want to take on a long, drawn out, physically exhausting job is if it pays extremely well. You won’t be able to handle more than one or two of those type jobs per day… So, they must be well worth your time.
The beauty of offering simple, quick services is that they can be repeated over and over many times in a single day. At a fair price per customer, you can make much more money by the end of a day than you can working a day-long job for a single customer or employer.
REGARDING BUSINESS “PERMITS”: DON’T!
Please note: Many communities “require” individuals to get a business license (costing $20-$50 and up) to “start a business” locally, but this requirement is usually very loosely enforced, and enforcement actions are usually complaint-driven, especially in the home and business service areas we are discussing.
Meaning: You can go out and start working today, tomorrow, this week and the next; and then – if your business is prospering – and it’s something that you want to do long term, THEN AND ONLY THEN, go file for a business license.
Remember, I am showing you how to find profitable work without setting up an office, nor advertising, or doing anything at all that would draw “official” attention.
DON’T LET LICENSING RULES STAND IN YOUR WAY IF YOU NEED MONEY NOW.
If you presently have a day-time job, you can supplement your income by offering these services in the evenings or on weekends, much the same as my young navy shipmates did, and a number of my low-income neighbors are doing now. If you currently do not have a job, you can work up to six days a week, if you wish. But remember, to make at least $100 a day, you will need to put in the suggested amount of time and/or number of jobs listed in each section.
This all being said, I want to give you SEVEN excellent service ideas which you can use to begin making your $100+ a day. You may switch from one to another as you choose, working at one on one day, another on another day, until you find the one or two most profitable and fitting for your situation and location. Remember, each of these is a tried and true, genuine money making service.
They all work, and they WILL work for YOU.
NOTE: The only additional items that you may wish to purchase would be a simple receipt book to give your customers a receipt for their payment. You can buy one of these for under $2 at any Wal-Mart or office supply store. Or… you can simply use an ordinary notepad as your first receipt book if you wish.
You can start by hand printing your contact information, but if you’ll be doing this regularly, I recommend buying an inexpensive address stamp from an online mailing label or check printing company. Of course, if you’re computer savvy and have a few extra bucks, you could print your own receipt forms too. If you don’t have a good printer, most public libraries have printing facilities that are quite cheap to use. Mine charges just 10 cents a sheet on a good quality laser printer… and 5 cents if I bring my own paper or labels sheets.
I also recommend that you keep a small notebook with your customers information that you have served. This will serve as a useful record for repeat service sales calls, which in all likelihood, will happen. Some enterprising micro-business entrepreneurs have done so well, they’ve set up regular service routes with steady clients needing an array of their “low-cost” handyman services year around.
